Ugochukwu Nwafor is a Nigerian-born lawyer, writer, essayist, and hobbyist-photographer residing in Toronto. His works have been featured in several print and online publications, including Active Muse, Enkare Review, CFW Freedom Magazine, Fox Spirit Book UK, Afritondo, Lunaris Review, Wreaths for a Wayfarer and elsewhere. He was the managing editor of ‘Íjè: A Voyage into Island Immigrant Life,’ a multicultural anthology exploring the lives of immigrants on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Íjè won the 2024 PEI Book Awards (non-fiction category). Ugochukwu’s poem ‘Home-bound Dancers was the second runner-up in the June 2019 Collins Elesiro Prize for Literature, while his short story ‘The Night She Saw the Sun’ was long-listed for the same prize. In 2022, he served as a juror for the 2022 Island Literary Awards (the Scott Parsons category). Ugochukwu is passionate about cross-cultural heritage. Regardless of the medium, his work explores the intersection of culture, art, history, indigenous worldviews, and storytelling.
